I am a huge believer in encouraging kids to actively engage with the community that they are a part of. From my experiences travelling in Asia with Ella I think our society has a lot to learn about bringing kids into the folds of community and supporting them in their growth to adulthood. So you can imagine my bliss and respect for Hey Ocean! when this amazing moment happened at Rifflandia. The video below the still is so precious ;) Thank you, Hey Ocean! for being so incredibly awesome!
Mother Mother is one of my favorite bands to see live. They bring it every single time with loads of talent, 110% energy, and always with gratitude for the audience and show organizers. A winning combination. They also generously donate their time and talent to War Child when they are at Rifflandia. Without further ado, Mother Mother.
Day 3 of Rifflandia is about to begin and while I will be posting images shortly from tons of incredibly talents bands that are playing Riff this year, this post is dedicated to The Flaming Lips. If there was a roof on Royal Athletic Park, it would have been blown last night. I know our minds were.

I love doing headshot portraits outside in natural light. I find the variety in backgrounds is far more interesting than what I have in the studio. All of these images were created within a one block radius but result in lots of different options to choose from.
What an incredible shoot it was with Keira & Tegan. So much love and laughter. The light was beautiful as the sun headed towards the horizon on this hot summer evening. I feel so fortunate when I get to photograph the raw and vibrant love that exists between a parent and child. Thank you, Keira & Tegan, for allowing me into your wondrous world and for the beer on the sun-kissed deck afterwards ;)
A great little moment from Leanne & Taylor’s fun-filled wedding. I have never busted a gut laughing as hard as I did with this wedding party. They say humour is the key to a long marriage and happy marriage. Taylor and Leanne are set ;)

A large anti-Enbridge rally against the Northern Gateway Pipeline happened in Victoria last Sunday. Hundreds turned out to the Legislature lawns before taking to the streets to march to Centennial Square. Once at the square, there was an afternoon full of workshops and panel discussions related to the environment, the energy sector, and effective ways to get involved in the debate.
