You have to check out this awesome new addition to the human race. Violet is just the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever seen. She’s also the first baby that has fit into the cocoon I crocheted (bonus points for you, Violet!).

A shining soul creates new life.
Some women glow when they are pregnant. Calico beams. Although I have it on good authority that it is not just when she is pregnant. Calico is one of those people that have you grinning and laughing and loving life. You can’t help it. Her joy just rubs off. Her energy was such a treat to shoot. Growing Grain on Vancouver Island
In 2010 Gene and I bought a share in a grain co-op that was being hosted by Makaria Farms just outside Duncan. We learned how to plant, grow and harvest grain. At the end of the season we were rewarded with harvests of organic Red Fife, Spring Wheat, and Rye. True Grain Bread, the fabulous organic bakery in Cowichan Bay was kind enough to let us use their gorgeous stone grain mill to grind our grain into flour.
