    Human Rights Activist Nontombi Naomi Tutu came to Victoria recently to discuss “us and them: how we construct the ‘other’”. She is an amazing woman and a powerful speaker. I had the opportunity to present her with a photograph that I took of her father Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama when they were part of a roundtable dialogue at UBC in 2004.

They are avid surfers so part two is going to involve sand, surf and snuggles but we wanted to get some images of the first days at home too. There is something so special about those first couple of weeks of settling in as a family. You enter a cocoon and your entire world exists within the four walls of your house. Hours pass just staring at your baby and nothing feels so rewarding. And the love. Oh the love.

    Amanda & Brian got married in a gorgeous ceremony in Hawaii. Not everyone could make the trip down though so they also wanted to throw a reception party in Victoria. That’s when I got a call from Amanda. Because this fabulous couple live in Ohio we didn’t get a chance to meet until the day of the party. While this situation sometimes makes me nervous as I prefer  getting to know each other beforehand, I was amazed upon meeting these two that it felt like we had been friends for years.     I went down and photographed Jon & Roy’s CD Release Party show for their new album “Homes“. The MacPherson Playhouse was packed and the show rocked the house. Everyone was on their feet at the end of the show begging for more. Vince Vaccaro and Mother Mother opened for Jon & Roy. I gotta say…those three bands in one show make Keri a very happy girl 😉
